Yuki Langwerowski, Owner and Japanese Teacher
Yuki-sensei opened Blue Moon in November 2013 to realize her dream of creating a nurturing space for both children and families in Alameda. After 16 years of experience in the corporate world as an accountant, she decided to follow her passion in child education and earned an AA in Childhood Education from American River College in Sacramento. Before opening Blue Moon, she taught Japanese at Port of Sacramento Japanese School and various private schools in the Bay Area. Originally from Japan, Yuki lives in Alameda with her husband and two children.
Satomi Ray, Hiyoko Japanese Teacher
Satomi-sensei has been teaching small children in our Japanese immersion program since Blue Moon opened in 2013. In addition to teaching Japanese letters, numbers and vocabulary, she’s a gifted artist who leads our daily craft activities and art projects. Over the years, she has made thousands of adorable arts and crafts with the children! Because of her talents, the children enjoy many forms of creative expression, from finger paint to origami to making seasonal decorations. Satomi enjoys painting and camping with her family in her spare time. She has one teenage daughter.
Hanako Ramirez, Hiyoko Japanese Teacher
Hana-sensei came to Blue Moon in the summer of 2022 and has been teaching small children in our Japanese immersion program ever since. Although she came from a design and architecture background, she is also an experienced Japanese Language tutor and has more recently worked in childcare. She has a five-year-old son.
Faiza Flores, French Teacher
Madame Flores has been teaching young children in our French immersion program at Blue Moon for the past seven years. She has been teaching French for a total of 11 years and LOVES it! Born and raised in Paris, France, and a resident of Alameda for 17 years, Faiza holds a masters degree in Languages and European Business from London, England. In addition to teaching, she also has many other passions, including crafting, cooking, baking, swimming, traveling, and hiking. Her favorite thing to do is spending time with her family, which includes her two boys (17 and 14 years old).
Catherine Casallas, Assistant French Teacher
“Bonjour! I am Catherine, the French assistant and I have lived in the Bay Area since 2015 with my husband and 4 children. I first learned about Blue Moon while looking for French reading time for my children, 9 years ago. They have been enrolled in Japanese class ever since. Since 2023, I am the French assistant teacher, very excited to be with little learners. It's a pleasure to teach them this beautiful language with songs, art, reading, writing, play and conversation. It's a really good start for being able to travel then in 88 countries where French is spoken.”
